Van den Anker aims at a high level of customer service. Modern ICT technology is used to constantly maintain this high level. Since 1999 it is possible to monitor stock, stock mutations and delivery times on the Internet.
In April 2004 Van den Anker was the first company in their line of business to offer their customers the possibility to monitor the delivery status of shipments real-time. All trucks have a Personal Data Administrator (PDA). PDAs communicate by GPRS and are directly linked to the Internet, so drivers, back office and customers are continually on-line.
Advantages of this system are:
- navigation features, making it easier for drivers to find delivery addresses
- better back office performance; the Planning department can continually trace our trucks and, if necessary, make adjustments
- scanning; scanning bar code labels upon delivery
- electronic signatures; receivers have to enter name and signature on PDA
- proof of delivery (POD) available on the Internet immediately after delivery
- all PODs available on the Internet for several months
- real-time information (delivery status reflects reality)
