Aside from the shipment of packaged chemical products, Van den Anker can also take charge of pumping activities. Customers sometimes require that products be pumped from relatively small packs (at most 1,000 litres) to receiving installations.

This ensures that larger tankers that often specialise in bulk batches do not have to perform this. The other advantages of this are that packs are returned immediately and do not have to be cleaned (environmental benefit).

Pumping (small) quantities, however, is a tailor-made service. A working instruction will be drawn up in consultation with the customer in which the following must be included:

  • Protection measures
  • Technical truck facilities such as an on-board compressor
  • Technical procedure
  • Safety instructions

Pumping may only be performed by qualified and SCC-trained drivers.

Certificate Basic elements of safety SCC

We provide Pressure Discharge deliveries for a few of our customers. These are direct deliveries of mixed cargo loads (in the trucks) to the installation of the recipient (pumps). The drivers that provide these Pressure Discharge services all have a valid SCC Certificate.

Our Technical Services employees are also SCC trained. Van den Anker BV has a total of 35 employees who have a Basic Elements of Safety SCC Certificate. Every 10 years they must follow a refresher course by operation of law. They gain basic knowledge regarding safety during this course and they are given insight into all safety aspects related to working with SCC-certified companies. This course covers the following: Legislation related to working conditions, risks and prevention, hazardous chemicals, fire and explosion danger, electricity, machines and tools, hoisting and lifting, working at heights and personal protection equipment. All Van den Anker drivers who have a valid SCC Certificate are also issued with a Personal Safety Logbook. Their personal details and all their current certificates, diplomas, driving licences and inspections are registered in this logbook. This provides 1 document that lists all relevant information in a well-organised way.
