Specialization in transport for the future the best solution From way back, the transport of packaged dangerous goods was carried out by nearly all carriers. The shipment of ADR products in combination with other products was performed from a transport perspective; the vehicle must be utilised to the best level possible. The last decade we have seen that more and more transport companies have started to specialise. Specialists have emerged in, for example, the following fields: - Food; Van den Anker argues strongly that there must be further specialisation. Only further specialisation provides additional value in supply chain solutions of shippers and customers. There are still, however, many transport companies and networks that follow the same old pattern: "a load is a load, as long as the vehicle is full". Combining different load flows is, of course, an option if strictly following the law, but this vision disregards social corporate responsibility (SCR). How could you, for example, accept a combination of toxic chemicals and toys based on this SCR vision? This is permitted but we do not believe it should be allowed! We have seen further regulations in the area of the transport of dangerous goods coming from the government. They have also come to realise that specialization is the best solution. Also see "Safety first" by visiting www.verkeerenwaterstaat.nl/english. The expectation is that the transport of hazardous chemicals will increase in the future. All the more so since we have to select specialisation from a strategic vision. Van den Anker is the Specialist in the field of distribution transport of packaged hazardous chemicals in the Benelux. |
