Perfumery & cosmetics

Did you know that deodorant sprays (aerosols) and perfumes are also considered dangerous?

Perfume is a composition which for a large part consists out of alcohol and is extremely flammable. Therefore, perfumery products are classified as a hazardous substance (flammable liquids) for transport by road.

Also aerosols for cosmetic purposes (eg, hair spray or deodorant) are considered by legislation as a hazardous substance. This is because many aerosols contain propellants like propane and / or butane. Propane and butane are extremely flammable gases.

Although perfumes and aerosols are considered a hazardous substance, all transport companies may transport the substance in small packages (limited quantities) without any specific knowledge that it needs.

However, if your company want to store these products, it must be done according to the directives of the PGS-15. In these directives, it is described how you can safely store large quantities of hazardous products. These directives are used by the government, when a company applies for an environmental permit for the storage of these substances.

Often a responsive fire extinguishing system is needed for the storage of these hazardous substances. Certainly when you talk about aerosols that require a rapid flame & heat detection, combined with a quick responsive fire extinguishing system.

The warehouses of Van den Anker are specially equipped for these products, so that these products can be stored in a safe way. If you want more information about this subject, please feel free to contact us.
